Karate and other forms of martial arts can be really good for teens. Generally, the sport promotes self-discipline, builds strength, flexibility, and agility, and instills values of honor, courtesy, hard work, and respect. Many programs teach confidence-building self-defense skills as well.
No, the exact opposite happens. Martial artists earn their skills through hard work and discipline. Paired with increased self-discipline, a martial artist will not sully the result of years of hard work by engaging in stupid activities.
Most martial arts have the development of respect, courtesy, and honor as an integral part of their training.
For this reason, we do not endorse Boxing, Mixed Martial Arts, and all other forms that do not have belts & ranks, and no framework of developing above traits.
“To injure an opponent is to injure yourself. To control aggression without inflicting injury is the Art of Peace.”
